About the event
What is Yamuna Chhath?
Yamuna Chhath is the birthday of Yamuna Maharani, marking the goddess's descent to earth. According to Hindu scripture, the river Yamuna appeared on the Shashthi (6th day) of Shukla Paksha in Chaitra, celebrated annually as her Jayanti.
This festival is the most important at Yamuna Maharani Temple, Vishram Ghat. While Bhai Dooj attracts large crowds, Yamuna Chhath is dedicated solely to Yamuna ji, unlike other events connected to Krishna or Yama.
Falling on Day 6 of Chaitra Navratri, it adds spiritual intensity and coincides with Skanda Shashthi in 2026.
